FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF FAST DISSOLVING TABLET OF AMLODIPINE BESYLATE USING HIBISCUS ROSA SINENSIS AS SUPERDISINTEGRANT

ABSTRACT
Fast Dissolving Tablet are designed to provide rapid disintegration and absorption with improved in-vitro drug release time. Aim of this research work was to formulate a fast-dissolving Amlodipine Besylate tablet that normalize the blood pressure at the time of high blood pressure. Fast mouth dissolving tablets dissolve in less than a minute without the need of water. Using Hibiscus rosa sinensis Mucilage, MCC and their combination, nine different formulations were prepared. Among them, formulation (F9) containing combination of Mucilage and MCC as a disintegrant shows very short disintegration time i.e. 36 seconds and percentage drug release of 88.17± 0.89%. The increase concentration of the superdisintegrant enhanced the porosity of the tablet, due to which it reduced the disintegration and wetting time and maximum drug release in 30 minutes.
