Abstract

SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF ASPIRIN AND FAVIPIRAVIR IN BULK AND TABLET DOSAGE FORM BY UV-SPECTROSCOPIC METHOD

Dr. Zaranappa* and Pruthvishree V.

ABSTRACT

The current work focusses on simultaneous estimation of Aspirin and Favipiravir by UV spectroscopic method as per ICH guidelines. Recent studies shows that Aspirin possess antiviral activity and hence its combination with Favipiravir reduces the chances of viral resistance and dose of drugs can be reduced. Simple, accurate and newer method has been developed and validated using Acetonitrile as a solvent for the determination of Aspirin and Favipiravir in dosage form. The maximum absorption of Aspirin and Favipiravir was found to be 225nm and 321nm with Beer’s range at 4 -20 μg/ml and 3 – 15 μg/ml respectively. The developed method has been validated and correlation coefficient was found to be 0.9995 and 0.9998 for Aspirin and Favipiravir respectively. The Limit of Detection and Limit of Quantification were found to be within the range i.e., 0.76 μg/ml and 2.31 μg/ml for Aspirin, 0.87 μg/ml and 2.65 μg/ml for Favipiravir respectively. The % RSD values for robustness and accuracy are within 2% for both the drugs. This analytical method can be adopted for routine analysis of drugs in bulk drug industries.

Keywords: Aspirin (ASA), Favipiravir (FAV), Acetonitrile (ACN), UV-spectrophotometric method, ICH.
