Kavitha S.? and Jithamol K. P.
ABSTRACT
Several benzimidazole derivatives with mannich base showed various biological activities such as antimicrobial, antiviral, anthelmintic, antiprotozoal, anticancer and antitubercular activity. Tested for their cytotoxic and anthelmintic activities. Their cytotoxicity effects were measured by brine shrimp lethality bioassay and allium cepa root assay method. Compound 2c and 2d have exhibited moderate toxicity and remaining four compounds like 2b, 2e, 2f and 2g shows less toxicity. All six compounds shows anthelmintic activity compared with standard drug Albendazole (200μg/ml).
Keywords: 2-Methylbenzimidazole, Mannich Base, Anthelmintic Activity, Brine Shrimp Lethality Bioassay and Allium Cepa Root. Assay Method.
