REVIEW ON GHRITA KALPANA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SNEHA AVARATANA

ABSTRACT
Bhaishajya kalpana explains various dosage forms among which Sneha kalpana is widely prescribed as internal medicine and is the main medicine for panchakarma treatments. After the preparation of a particular yoga various methods are explained to be employed for the potentiation of the same like for example procedures like avartana, bhavana, rasakriya etc.[9] These are the samskaras given to increase the potency of the formulation. Reference of avartana can be traced from Charaka samhita in the context of preparation of Bhallataka taila, Anu taila etc and Sushruta samhita explains the avartana in the context of
shatapaki and sahasra paki siddha taila. Avartana is adding the prescribed ingredients in the same quantity and re heating the same ghrita or taila. This procedure of avartana helps in the absorption and bio availability of the medicine will be enhanced. This article aims at the concept of avartana, preparation, administration of the procedure of avartana.[1,2]
