A REVIEW ON MANAGEMENT OF PLAQUE PSORIASIS

ABSTRACT
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic multi-system inflammatory skin disease characterized by silvery, erythematous scales and seen in majority of patients. This study mainly reviews epidemiology, causes and risk factors such as stress, anxiety, hormonal changes, other diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular problems, genetics and few life style disturbances. Clinical manifestations like skin irritations which are red, dry and silvery patches. Plaque psoriasis mainly diagnosed through physical examination, biopsy to identify the type of skin diseases. The main treatment options involved in plaque psoriasis are topical therapy, photo therapy, systemic or biological therapy to relieve symptoms of
this disease. Drug of choice is mainly based on criteria such as type, age and severity of psoriatic patients. Non- Pharmacological therapy such as smoking cessation, limiting alcohol consumption, reduce stress mainly through yoga, meditation and basic physical exercises, maintain healthy diet according to Body Mass Index, hydrating and moisturizing the surfaces of skin.
