ABSTRACT
This disease named Alzheimer’s is the most spreading neuro-degenerative disease that causes dementia by damaging the mental capacity of brain growth & disturbing the neurocognitive activity. The indicative diagnostic feature includes development of senile plaques & neurofibrillary tangles. The initial drawbacks of this disease are due to less accessibility of Acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter present in cerebral region of brain which shows metabolism through an enzyme Ach esterase previously showing its activity & death of neurons. Through previous times many medicinal plants are used in slow preparations for enhancing memory and cognition activity of brain. Some medicinal plants of Ayurvedic origin such as Ashwagandha,
turmeric, Brahmi, Shankhapushpi, Gotu Kola etc. are used for slowing down the brain age and promotes memory as well as they are related to utilization of ayurvedic medicinal plants for signal transduction processes like its efficacy & safety. So, the review prepared concentrates on late research findings showing effectiveness of different plants on the basis of its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties in enhancing the Alzheimer’s disease.
Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective cognition enhancer.
