A REVIEW ON CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF ANISOMELES MALABARICA (L.) R. Br.

ABSTRACT
Anisomeles malabarica (L.) R.Br. is a traditional medicinal plant of the Lamiaceae family, it is a herbaceous plant native to tropical and subtropical regions. It is a widely used folklore medicine in countries like India attributing to its Anti-allergic, Anti-anaphylactic, Anti- bacterial, Anti-cancer, Anti-carcinogenic, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-epileptic potential, Antifertility, Anti-pyretic activity and antispasmodic activity. The phytochemical screening of Anisomeles malabarica (L.) R. Br. showed that it contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tanins, sterols, oil and fat, phenolic compounds, protein and aminoacids, Gums and mucilages, carbohydrates and glycosides. The present review is an attempt to highlight the various ethanobotanical and traditional uses as well as pharmacological reports on Anisomeles malabarica (L.) RBr.
