ABSTRACT
Multiple sclerosis is an immune-mediated disorder that occurs due to the degeneration of neuronal axons and myelin sheath. For the last couple of decades, Multiple sclerosis has been identified as a major neuronal disorder that eventually increases the mortality and morbidity rate across the globe. Investigators endeavor to research the effective and safe therapy against multiple sclerosis disease., but still results are not satisfactory. Currently available drugs and stem cell therapy for the MS treatment may not be completely ameliorating the neurodegeneration process, they only work on symptomatic relief. So
as per needs, it must be added herbal drugs as an alternative treatment that has fewer side effects in comparison with available drugs and stem cell therapy. In this review article, we generally focused on the functional activity of some herbal drugs such as Ginkgo biloba, Curcuma longa, Zingiber Officinalis, Crocus sativus, Panax ginseng, etc., which are used against various neurodegenerative diseases with the help of their anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.
Keywords: Interferon-beta, Reactive oxygen species, inducible nitric oxide synthase, Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).
