ABSTRACT
The concept mouth dissolving film dosage forms has become popular as a new delivery system. Through reduced dosing frequency, this method will deliver optimal therapeutic efficacy, enhanced bioavailability, and maximum stability. In addition, first-pass drug metabolism is avoided. This system offers more rapid absorption of the drug from the stomach area, which can lead to a rapid onset of action. Because of its flexibility and ease of use, the oral soluble film is the most current oral solid dosage form. The oral film is an oral solid dosage form that disintegrates and dissolves in one minute. If put in mouth without drinking water or chewing. This dosage form allows the drug skip first-pass metabolism so that drug bioavailability can be increased. Mouth-soluble films have the potential to increase the onset of action, reduce the dose, and relieve anxiety suffocation. Mouth dissolving films are chosen based on a variety of factors including thickness, physical qualities e.g. folding endurance, disintegration and dissolution time are all factors to consider. This review provides an overview of the formulation techniques, evaluation parameters, packaging evaluation and some of the commercially available marketed products from Mouth dissolving film.
