CLASSICAL REVIEW OF ZIABETUS (DIABETES) IN UNANI TREATISE WITH INSIGHTFUL PERSPECTIVES OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES

ABSTRACT
Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorder characterized by Hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, its sensitivity or both. Worldwide it is affecting more than 300 million people. India has today become the Diabetic capital of the world with over 20 million diabetes patients and this number is yet to increase to 57 million by the year 2025. There are two major types of type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Diabetes mellitus is one of the oldest diseases, with a testimony of 3000 years. In Unani system of medicine, Diabetes is divided into two groups on the basis of presence or absence of sugar in the urine and the intensity (khiffat and shiddat) of the signs and symptoms.
