MANAGEMENT OF DIABETIC FOOT ULCER WITH JALAUKAVACHARAN, VRANADHOOPAN AND LASER DEBRIDEMENT- A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
In present scenario sedentary life style, lot of stress and over nutrition are important etiology of diabetes, as one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. Foot ulcers are common complication of diabetes that is not being managed through methods such as diet, exercise and insulin treatment and lack of treatment can cause dread of disability with ever dangling end of an amputation making diabetic foot the most feared and devastating complication of diabetes. Hence, there is a necessity for the proper understanding of pathogenesis of diabetic foot as per the principles of Ayurveda to give safe and
effective Ayurvedic management. Acharya Sushrut has explained multiple medicines, local application, surgical and para-surgical procedures on wound healing. The father of surgery has given a great emphasis on wound healing using 60 techniques called Shasti Upakramas and these techniques are very effective on healing and non-healing ulcers like diabetic foot ulcer. Hence, the present case report is based on diabetic foot ulcer, where techniques like Paad Awagaha, Parishek, Dhoopan, Jalaukavacharan, laser Debridement, local application and oral medication in a required combination for the miraculous healing.
