ABSTRACT
Cancer is a dreadful disease which involves the abnormal cell growth capable of invading other organs or tissue or parts of the body. Cancer is one of the major life-threatening diseases which has no existing cure currently in the World. According to World Health Organization (WHO) recent reports (survey 2015) there is one death case per six death cases globally caused due to cancer. Benzimidazole is heterocyclic, aromatic compound, it is a biologically active scaffold which possess anticancer, antitumor and antiproliferative properties along with other useful biological actions. As discussed earlier the benzimidazoles and piperazine are the important pharmacophore in the medicinal chemistry, due to their widespread pharmacological activities. So, to exploit their anticancer potential we have selected
these two for our research work. In present days many anticancer agents are available but there are some major types of cancer which are quite resistance to these compounds. So, in order to develop potential anticancer agent, it was considered of interest to synthesize some benzimidazole derivatives.
Keywords: Cancer, Benzimidazole, Piperazine, Cytotoxic, anticancer.
