According to modern science iron deficiency anemia usually refers to a condition in which your blood has a lower than normal number of red blood cells. Iron is an essential mineral that is needed to form hemoglobin, an oxygen carrying protein inside red blood cells. It is estimated that 30% of the global population suffers from iron deficiency anemia, and most of them live in develping countries .Iron deficiency anaemia is widespread in india -58.6% of children, 53.2% of non-pregnant women and 50.4% of pregnant women were found to be anaemic in 2016, As per NFHS. India carries the highest burden of the disease despite having an anaemia control programme for 50 years.Ayurveda is highly effective in treating many chronic diseases like pandu. Thus an attempt has been made to evaluate the probable efficacy of polyherbal Punarnavadi mandoor mentioned in Bhaishajyaratnavali pandu kamla halimaka rogadhikar in treating Pandu. Mandoor is chemically Fe2 o3, Thus helps in increasing haemoglobin in blood. Aim: To evaluate the role of Punarnavadi Mandoor in iron deficiency anemia w.s.r. to Pandu. Objective: 1) To study haematenic activity of Punarnavadi Mandoor. 2) To study mechanism of action of Punarnavadi Mandoor on pandu.
