A REVIEW ON MARMA CHIKITSA FOR CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS

ABSTRACT
Cervical spondylosis is a degenerative disease of the cervical spine. It affects quality of life of the patient disturbing his routine activities. Conservative management is usually opted for the condition - analgesics and NSAIDS are used but with many undesirable side-effects. Marma Chikitsa can be used as an alternative therapy for cervical spondylosis- which is free from side effects and is a proven treatment modality. Kshipra, Talahridaya, Kurca, Kurcasira, Manibandha, Indravasti, Kurpara, Urvi, Ani Marma along with Matrika, Krikatika and Amsa, Amsaphalaka of back are stimulated in the patients. Using Marma Chikitsa along with Ayurveda treatment
protocols helps to alleviate pain and other complaints, accelerate healing process and improves quality of life. We present a review on Marma points and their sites, measurement, involved anatomical structures, stimulation method and benefits of stimulation for the patients of cervical spondylosis.
