ABSTRACT
Different solvents(Petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol) extracts
offruiting body of Phellinuslinteus had been evaluated separately for
anthelmintic activity on adult Indian earth worms, namely
Pheretimaposthuma. Three concentrations (20, 40 and 60 mg/ml) of
various extracts were tested andresults were expressed in terms of time
for paralysis and time for death of worms. The results revealed that the
methanolic extract showed excellent anthelmintic activity at a
concentration level of 60mg/ml on time taken for paralysis (30.12 min)
and death (65.82 min) of the worms. Activities on further comparison
with the standard drug Piperazinecitrate (10 mg/ml), the methanolic
extract showed a significant effect as compared to others.
