ACUTE PAROTIDITIS IN POST APPENDECTOMY – CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Parotiditis is the common viral condition and found in children. Most of cases are manageable conservatively. It is rare in 4th or 5th decade. But some conditions revealed parotiditis in adults having other than viral cause which lands up into Parotid abscess and requires surgical intervention. This case illustrates the rare condition of Parotiditis after Appendectomy. 45Y/F underwent Appendectomy developed B/L Jaw swelling and congestion in throat. Clinically supposed to have Parotitis later confirmed by Ultra sonography. Symptoms developed 10 hours after appendectomy which was managed by hydration, anti-inflammatory, steroids and other. Early attention and immediate treatment relieve the symptoms. It didn’t require any kind of surgical intervention for the cure.
