ABSTRACT
Medicinal plant has been used for eras as a remedy for human disease because they contain components of therapeutic worth. The acceptance of conventional medicine as an alternative type health care and development. The present research confined to the antioxidant activity of semi-synthesized derivatives of N-formylannonain which is isolated from methanolic extract of Tinospora cordifoliastem. Methods: Extraction using Soxhlet apparatus to obtain extract from the Tinospora Cordifolia stem followed by isolation of N-formylannonain. The anti-oxidant activity was evaluated by using DPPH model. The anti-oxidant potential was determined by IC50 value. Results: semi-synthesized derivatives of isolated compound from Tinospora Cordifolia stem shows appropriate antioxidant activity however
compound 3c shows most potent anti-oxidant activity as compared to the isolated compound N-formylannonain. Various chemical test of Tinospora cordifolia showed that glycoside, alkaloids, carbohydrates, phenols, amino acid and saponins. Conclusion: The results indicate that Tinospora Cordifolia could be useful as an antioxidant drug. Hence from this study it’s concluded that extract possess significant antioxidant activity complementary studies should be made to establish its uses mainly in India. Further research on Tinospora Cordifolia stem for the discovery as a potent antioxidant agent is required to synthesize a compound as a useful lead molecule with a better pharmacological profile.
