COMPREHENSIVE DATA BASE REVIEW OF KANTHYA DASHEMANI VARGA OF CHARAKA SAMHITA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TUNDIKERI (TONSILITIS)

ABSTRACT
Acharya Charaka introduced fifty vargas of dravyas based on their karma to put physicians into ease while treating a patient. Kanthya varga is one among those fifty vargas consisting of ten dravyas helping in treatment of kantagata rogas, swarabheda and Vaiswarya.Tundikeri is one of the talugata and kantagata rogas mentioned by various acharyas in brihatrayees and laghutrayees. Tundikeri is characterised by swelling, pain in the mukha (kanta) pradesha It can be taken as tonsilitis, which is one of the surgical disease. In early stages of tundikeri it can be managed through kantya mahakashaya drugs in the form of pratisarana, gandusha, kavala. Dosage form development using these dravyas is useful in the form of lozenges which is more suitable to present day lifestyle.
