BRIEF REVIEW ON AMAYIKA PRAYOGA OF GANDHAKA MENTIONED IN RASA TARANGINI

ABSTRACT

Gandhaka, is the first Uparasa mentioned in Rasaratna Samuchchaya and many other texts of Rasashastra. Owing to its varied use in mercurial preparations and wide therapeutic applications, Gandhaka holds great importance in the field of Rasashastra. Use of Gandhaka as a main drug, for treating various kinds of diseases makes the text of Rasatarangini unique. This article is an attempt to throw light on the diverse formulations mentioned under the Amayika prayoga of Gandhaka and their utility in treating many diseases as mentioned in Rasatarangini.
