MANAGEMENT OF VISPHOTA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ACNE VULGARIS: A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
With the increasing modernization and development, physical appearance has gained more importance in today’s youth life. Now a days, with changing lifestyle, junk eating, improper sleeping patterns etc. many people are suffering from skin problems. Among all those skin problems, Acne is the most common among teenagers and young adults. In Ayurveda Severe form acne can be correlated with Vishphota. So, Visphota is a type of Kshudra Kustharoga described by our Acharayas, which is oftenly encountered by many Ayurvedic Dermatologists. Visphota having characteristics features of Kandu (itching), Pidaka (vesicles), Srava (discharge), Ruja (pain), Sandhivedhana (joint pain), Daha (burning sensation). There is no satisfactory treatment available in modern medical practice except the use of some antibiotics and tropical steroids like Isotretinion. In
Ayurveda, it can be cured by adopting the Shodhana and Shamana line of treatment. A patient approached to Nirvisha OPD with chief complaints of Pidakas on entire trunk, except over forearms and on both thigh region. Associated complains were pus formation, along with skin tagging, pain, slight burning sensation & occasional itching since 4years. Patient is treated with Virechana & few Agada preparations. A markedly visible improvement was noticed in patient’s condition in a span of 6months.
