AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF DADRU KUSHTA W.R.T. TINEA CRURIS - A SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Skin mirrors a person’s health. Often, the visibility and accessibility of skin make it the first organ of the body to diagnose signs of underlying disease. Most of the skin diseases are caused due to bacterial or fungal infections. Poor sanitation, unhygienic lifestyle, pollution and underprivileged socio-economic status are some of the primary factors for infection related diseases. According to who prevalence rate of superficial mycotic infection is 20-25%. Tinea cruris, also known as jock itch, is an infection involving the genital, pubic, perineal, and perianal skin caused by pathogenic fungi known as dermatophytes. It is the condition which shows characteristics symptoms such as erythema, itching, burning sensation, cracked skin, skin rashes which worsen by exercise, skin discoloration and important symptom like rashes that does not clears but increases due to antifungal creams. The management of the condition can be done in Ayurvedic perspective. According to Ayurveda all the classified disease of skin are considered as in Kushta Roga (skin disease), where the conditions of fungal infections are correlated with the Dadru Kshudra Kushta (Tinea), due to the clinical features like itching, redness, circular patches. The disease having exaggerated state of Pitta and Kapha Dosha, moreover Kapha. In present study, a 23yr old female patient of Dadru was treated with Aarogyavardhini Vati, Gandhak Rasayan, Guggulu tikthak gritha internally and external application of Dadru vidravana malahar and Chakramardha taila. Patient reported significant improvement in signs and symptoms in 45 days.
