ABSTRACT
Epilepsy is the neurological disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness. In our present study, a total of 650 patients were considered. Among them 162 were diagnosed with epilepsy. We had divided them into male and female patients of which total male patients are 72 in number and total female patients are 90 in number. From them, we have sub-categorised total patients according to Age, Etiological factors, Past Medical History. Apart from them we considered other groups of patients according to higher incidence such as Head injury, stroke, brain infection, brain abnormality, idiopathic reasons, eclampsia, fever induced, Neurocystosarcosis, drug or alcohol with drawl, Drug ADR’s, other
medical conditions. The maximum number of patients who are affected with Epilepsy belongs to the age group for Male are likely to be from 1- 10 years (16) and 31-40 years age group (12) were mostly affected with. For Female patients are from age group of 21-30 years (20) followed by 1-10 years (16). We observed in our study, more number of cases occurred due to etiological factors like Past history of epilepsy (40cases/ 62% in female) and idiopathic reasons (14cases/40%in male).
