Abstract

THE INCREDIBLE BENEFITS OF C. PAPAYA LEAVES ON VARIOUS DISEASE CONTROL STRATEGIES

ABSTRACT

The term "medicinal plant" includes a variety of plants and Carica papaya is one of them. This review has given in detail about various features of C. papaya leaves which are useful in treating various diseases. Treatment with medicinal plants is considered to be very safe as there are no side effects. These herbs are environmentally friendly, which is a great benefit. The fact of the matter is that the use of medicinal plants is independent of any age group and gender. For centuries, papaya (Carica papaya Linn.) is a popular nutritious and medicinal plant. Each part of papaya such as root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, seeds, rinds, and latex has its own nutritional properties. It works as a diet, cooking utensil, and ethnomedicine to prevent and treat many diseases and disorders. It is also traditionally used as a dietary supplement, cleanser, acne treatment, abortifacient and vermifuge. Decades ago, a series of scientific experiments were performed to confirm the nutraceutical properties of papaya. These studies confirmed that papaya has antidengue functions. They also show that papaya has antibacterial effect against Salmonella typhi, anti-inflammatory, and contraceptive properties, and is helpful in controlling sickle-cell anemia, heart disease and digestive disorders. However, atoms that are responsible for their bio-active properties are still vague and precise. This requires further medical and clinical research. Altogether, papaya is one of the most gifted plants by nature; although its nutritional properties such as food or a drug like this may not be well understood or may be less well-known to the public. Therefore, this study, the need to promote public health awareness campaigns to promote the use of papaya, so that the community can get the full benefits of papaya and prevent and reduce various diseases and ailments.
