EFFECT OF HOME CARE PHARMACY ON KNOWLEDGE OF PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION AT MERANTI HEALTH CENTER IN MERANGIN DISTRICT JAMBI PROVINCE, INDONESIA

ABSTRACT
Hypertension is one of the degenerative diseases requiring a long-term medication. Due to the prolonged therapy, most hypertensive patients fail to show adherence to the medication. The nonadherence attitude and knowledge toward the medication are among factors that causes the uncontrolled hypertension. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of Home Care Pharmacy on the level of knowledge in hypertensive patients. The research design used a quasi-experimental with Non-equivalent control group design. The Home Care Pharmacy was through advocating and counseling by using leaflets to
hypertensive patients in the integrated couching center of non-communicable disease at the Meranti Health Center who had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments used were the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale. The 64 respondents were divided into 32 control groups and 32 intervention groups. After the Home Care Pharmacy Intervention, the intervention group had better scores than the control group. There were an increase in patient knowledge level to 57.95% with a value of p=0.000. From the results of the research data, it can be seen that the Home Care Pharmacy Intervention influences and improves level of knowledge in hypertensive patients.
