A REVIEW- MUCORMYCOSIS AND ANTIFUNGAL DRUG TREATMENT

ABSTRACT
Mucormycosis is a type of fungal infection which is relatively rare but very serious. Formerly known as zygomycosis, this infection tends to occur most often if you have weakened immunity from an illness or health conditions and due to immunity related disorder. Mucormycosis is an infection which is commonly seen in India in those patients who are taking a treatment of Covid 19 SARS COV2 and receiving an immunosuppressant drugs with moistened oxygen therapy. Some patients receiving steroids therapy are also suffering from mucormycosis. Mucormycosis is difficult to manage infection because of limited diagnostic options and treatment approaches. It’s important to get treatment, if left untreated then Mucormycosis may be fatal. The synthetic anti-fungal drugs, Amphotericin B and Posaconazole are emerged as a boon in the dark situation of mucormycosis. Along with synthetic agents some herbal agents may be beneficial in the mild primary lesions of mucormycosis.
