A COMPARATIVE SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS STUDY OF APREMILAST AND PREDNISOLONE IN CASE OF MILD TO MODERATE ALOPECIA AREATA

ABSTRACT
Objective: To compare and evaluate the clinical efficacy of Oral Prednisolone and Oral Apremilast in mild to moderate Alopecia areata. Methods: Apremilast and Prednisolone was given in mild to moderate patients of alopecia areata for 6 months. Therapeutic response (percentage of regrowth of scalp hair in both the group) and safety profile was compared between both the group. Results: Prednisolone is more effective then Apremilast for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of Alopecia Areata but is less safer then Apremilast. Conclusion: Prednisolone appears to be a promising option for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of alopecia areata but Apremilast seems to be safer option for treatment of mild to moderate alopecia areata.
