ABSTRACT
The drug Candesatran is selected to develop buccal films. This drug is a Angiotensin receptor Blockers (ARB’s). This drug is more frequently prescribed in hypertension and cardiovascular disorders. Candesatran is also an antihypertensive drug of class angiotensin II receptor antagonist. The bioavailability of the drug is 25% and 75% of the drug dose is wasted due to hepatic first pass metabolism. In view of these facts, these drugs can be considered as a suitable candidate for buccal delivery. It has also been noted from the literature that, the physicochemical and pharmacokinetic profiles of Candesatran make it suitable candidates for the preparation of buccal drug delivery. All the prepared formulations were studied for drug release profile by in vitro method. In in vitro study, the released drug content was estimated by
standard procedures. From the invitro drug release studies, it was concluded that the natural mucoadhesive materials was found to exhibit better drug retardant characteristics up to 7 hrs.
Keywords: Candesatran, buccal drug delivery, in vitro method.
