Abstract

AN ANALYTICAL STUDY ON OCCURANCE OF FISTULA-IN-ANO IN PATIENTS ATTENDING ANORECTAL UNIT OF R.G.G.P.G. AYURVEDIC COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL PAPROLA, KANGRA (H.P.)

ABSTRACT

Fistula-in-ano is a has been recognized as difficult surgical diseases in all the ancient and modern medical sciences of the world. It is one of the anorectal disease which is very difficult to treat. Recurrent nature of this diseases makes it more difficult for treatment. Almost all the surgeons starting from Sushruta to Hippocrates and also down to the modern reputed surgeons of present time have realized the difficult course of this disease which offers for its surgical, medical, medico-surgical method of treatment. The present study was carried out with the objective to study the patients having fistula-in-ano, attending outpatients and inpatients department of anorectal unit of R.G.G.P.G. Ayurvedic College and Hospital Paprola district Kangra (H.P.) India. Total 20 patients were studied.All the the patients were evaluated through detailed performa designed for the research. It was observed that occurance of Fistula-in-ano is commonest among anorectal diseases attending the anorectal unit due to chronic nature of the disease as well as efficacy of Ayurvedic System in management of this disease. The study analysis revealed that the incidence of Fistula-in-Ano is commonly seen in age group of 21-50 years and is most common in middle age group. The sex incidence shows that maximum patients were males as compare to females and is also common in middle class peoples. It is common among nonvegetarians and those having sedentary life style. It also observed that it occur more common in peoples suffering from chronic constipation.
