A CASE REPORT ON METHOTREXATE INDUCED MELANONYCHIA

ABSTRACT
Chemotherapy drugs had a wide profile of Adverse effects. Among those one of the main ADR is related to the muco cutaneous region. Melanonychia is a condition in which we observe a brownish black discolouration of the nail plate. Melanonychia is of 3 types i.e., Longitudinal, Transverse, Total melanonychia. Melanonychia is caused mainly by chemotherapy drugs namely-cyclophosphamide, daunorubicin, busulfan, vincristine, methotrexate. In this case report, we present a case of patient diagnosed with Choriocarcinoma and was on EMA-EC regimen. after 2 cycles of methotrexate administration she developed an ADR called melanonychia.although it is not an serious condition in most of the cases, but early identification has to be done to
avoid complications of the condition.
