PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF DENDROPHTHOE FALCATA (L.F.) ETTINGSH FRUITS GROWING ON CASSINE GLAUCA (ROTTB) O. KTZE FROM MELGHAT (M.S)

ABSTRACT

Present paper deals with the Phytochemical analysis and Antioxidant activity of Dendrophthoe falcata (L.f) Ettingsh, fruits growing on the host plant Cassine glauca (Rottb) O. Ktze belonging to Family Celastraceae which is Rare host in Melghat. Preliminary study revealed the presence of Carbohydrates, Anthraquinone glycosides, Cardiac glycosides, Coumarins, Quinones, Steroids, Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Phenolics, Tannins, Saponins and Terpenoids while quantitative study showed ample presence of Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Phenolics and Saponins in the plant. HPTLC analysis shows Presence of Phenolics and Flavonoids. and Friuts of this plant also shows antioxidant activity.
