ABSTRACT
To evaluate the antioxidant and antiulcer activity of methanolic extract of leaves of Rorippa Sarmentosa (Brassicaceae) in albino wistar rats. The (MERS) have been proven experimentally to possess antioxidant activity in invitro methods. MERS showed effective response DPPH method for determining IC50 were recorded as 32μg/ml and for 38μg/ml for MERS and standard ascorbic acid. The Methanolic extracts of Rorippa sarmentosa showed significant antiulcer activity due to isolated the compound Latifolin A based on Analytical evidence of developed novel Latifolin A formulation. The anti-ulcer property was evaluated on Pylorous ligated and Indomethacin induced ulcer in
ats. The extract significantly reduces mucosal damage on the rats. The Methanolic extracts of Rorippa sarmentosa showed significant antiulcer activity at the dose of 400mg/kg % inhibition of ulcer 78.29% in indomethacin induced ulcer when compared to standard drug Omeprazole (10 mg/kg). The results of biochemical and histopathological studies like Rorippa sarmentosa on Gastric pH, Gastric Volume, Free Acidity and Total Acidity values suggest that MERS possesses significant antiulcer property and antioxidant activity compared to ascorbic acid.
