Non-adherence is the psychological behaviour of the individual person to adhere the instructions of the Care giver and Physician. Hence, the study aimed to assess the various determinants and stages of adherence in MI patients. The Cohort, observational study was conducted with 120 post MI patients treated with primary coronary intervention (PCI) for the period of 6 months at
KG Hospital based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The male patients are more prone to MI (78%) and female patients are 22%. The adherence was improved with some independent Predictors like higher education, married and city inhabitant in 68%. Age, poor cognitive function, Socio-economic status may decline the adherence and found to be 40%. The Patients in age group of ˃60 years have poor cognitive function and had poor medication adherence. Adherence to treatment regimen after myocardial infarction declined in long term treatment in patients with myocardial infarction. Hence, it essential to eliminate the determinants of Socioeconomics, illiteracy by creating the awareness Camp and education Programmes.
