KHALITYA AND IT’S MANAGEMENT BY PANCHKARMA

ABSTRACT
In the present world today people are more conscious about their health and appearance. Hair plays an important part in the personality or the appearance of the people. In the fast world of today, there is a race for cosmetics, changed life style or more specifically westernised culture, indifferent dietary habits have made the hairs either grey at prematurity or to fall down. In Ayurveda falling of hair is coined out as in term of ‘Khalitya’ under the broad heading of Shiroroga. A vivid description of the diseases is found in almost all ayurvedic texts of that time and even today. Ayurveda emphasizes self- knowledge and appropriate self-care to keep body both inwardly and outwardly beautiful and healthy. The conventional practice of Ayurveda gives guideline to educate people about self-healthcare and provides medicines or interventions to bring individuals back to a point from where self-healthcare can be continued. A proper hair care with the application of Abhyang, Snana, Nasya Dhumpan and proper aahaar vihaar is necessary for managing khalitya along with ayurvidic drugs which are included under Keshya drugs
