A DETAILED CRITICAL REVIEW ON MEDOVAHA SROTAS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SROTASA

ABSTRACT
Moola of Srotas defined by Aacharyas are origin, conducting parts, place of pathogenesis or diagnostic tools. The functions of Srotas are transportation of biological fluids, physiological regulatory factors and nourishment of tissue. Understanding the concept of Srotas facilitate the physician to take decisions accurately with respect to treatment and prognosis. Structurally, the Srotas are the hollow channels originating from the root space, spread within the whole body to act as a transport system for the fulfillment of nutritional needs of organism and to get rid of the end results of metabolism from the body. The term Srotas is
originated from the two main sanskrit roots ‗xÉëÑ aÉiÉÉæ‘ (Srawatiti Srugatau) + Sruribhayam sut (Asun sut cha) gatau dhatu contains the verb "move" and adjoining sut dhatu represents entity asun i.e. prana, which is the first and chief entity to move in living body therefore the word indicate the meaning that, srotas is the channel of body, which provide room for locomotion for its concerning entity.
