ETHNO- MEDICO – BOTANICAL SURVEY OF SIDDHANATH PARVAT(HILL) AREA OF GOA

ABSTRACT
The paper deals with 20 species of plants belonging to 16 families employed against various disorders by tribal people, medicine man, elderlypeople of adjacent villages of Siddhanath Parvat area, Ponda taluka of South Goa district of Goa. The folkloric information about their local names, Parts used or Plant products; dosages, form of application etc are gathered. The data occurred is compared with available literature. These are mostly used as remedies for Dysentery, Itching in Scalp,Ulcer, Hemorrhoids, Fever, Uro-Genital Problems Of Male, Spider Sting, Vomiting, Constipation, Pain due to Dental Caries, Bleeding from Wound, Scorpion Sting, Wound healing, Rheumatic Pain,Galactogogue, Headache, Hemicrania, Gum inflammation, Boil, Delayed puberty, Colic pain and Sinusitis etc. Further research in modern scientific line is necessary to improve their efficacy, safety and
validation of the traditional knowledge.
