Abstract

FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF FAST DISSOLNVING ORAL FILM FOR EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF VERTIGO

*Urmila Pal, Devendra Singh Lodhi, Dr. Kuldeep Ganju and Khushi Chouksey

ABSTRACT

Fast dissolving oral films is a type of oral drug delivery system for the oral delivery of the drug which was developed based on the technology of the transdermal patches. This fast-dissolving action is primarily due to the large surface area of the film, which wets quickly when exposed to the moist oral environment. Fast dissolving oral films were initially introduced in the market as breath fresheners and personal care products such as dental care strips and soap strips. This is fast disintegrating oral film hence on the laboratory scale solvent casting technique was adopted for formulation of films. Different formulations (F1-F6) were prepared using varying amount of SSG and CCS. The prepared formulations were evaluated for thickness, weight uniformity, folding endurance, percentage of moisture content, drug content analysis, disintegrating time and In vitro dissolution study. The successful treatment of vertigo depends on the maintenance of effective drug concentration level in the body for which a faster supply of drug is desired.
