Abstract

VIRTUAL SCREENING OF THE VITAL PHYTOCONSTITUENTS ON THE BASIS OF THEIR ANTI-ACNE POTENTIAL

Karuna Raghuwanshi* and Ashwani Mishra

ABSTRACT

In this research work an attempt was made to utilize in-silico screening techniques for the identification of potential phytoconstituents carry anti-acne activity. The selection of 20 phytoconstituents were done on the basis of literature available then these 20 phytoconstituents were subjected for in-silico screening. In the screening process four parameter were given preference, they were Skin sensitivity study, Drug likeliness, Skin permeability, bioavailability on the basis of biopharmaceutical properties and toxicological study specifically ocular toxicity. The result generated after performing the in-silico screening revealed that out of Coumarin, Myricetin, Quercetin, Hydroxyanthraquinone, Rubiadin, Rutin, β-caryophyllene, Trimyristin, Liquiritin, Glucomoringin, Niazimicin Sitosterol, Eugenol, Myristic acid, Glycyrrhizin, Licochalcone, Glabridin, Licoricidin, Gallic acid and Daucosterol. Myristic acid was observed best phytoconstituent as it revealed non sensitivity for skin, better skin permeability, good bioavailability, better drug likeliness property and no toxicity. This could be concluded from this study that Myristic acid can be utilized in the development of anti-acne formulation safely and this could effectively use in the treatment of acne if clinical studies would be done using this potent anti-acne phytoconstituent.

Keywords: anti-acne, phytoconstituents, in silico, screening, Myristic acid.
