ABSTRACT
The main objective of this review to highlight the analytical methods of Brimonidine tartrate and Timolol maleate in individual as well as combined pharmaceutical dosage form. Brimonidine tartrate and Timolol maleate mainly use in treatment of Glaucoma. Timolol maleate is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist and decrease aqueous humor production by the ciliary body. Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, such as brimonidine (Alphagan) and apraclonidine, work by a dual mechanism, decreasing aqueous humor production and increasing uveoscleral outflow. The information and suggested indicated below may facilitate and guide further needed studies to optimize use of analytical methods like RP-HPLC, HPTLC, UV- spectroscopy and stability indicating for estimation of Brimonidine tartrate and Timolol maleate in formulation.
Keywords: Brimonidine tartrate, Timolol maleate, Glaucoma, RP-HPLC, UV-Spectroscopy, Stability indicating.
