Dr. Jagriti Singh*, Dr. Manohar Ram and Dr. Ramnihor Tapsi Jaiswa

ABSTRACT

Being a holistic Science, Ayurveda explores the symbiotic relationship among the mind, body, soul and senses also called Manas, Sarira, Atma and Indriya respectively. In the modern scenario human life has become very fast, hectic and demanding, when we fail to make a proper adjustment according to the demands of the situation a state of negative stress or distress develop in our personality, which give rise to Psychological disorder. All the functions of the body are controlled by Manas with brain as the location of it‟s office and heart as residence. Therefore whenever Ayurveda talks about brain health actually it talks about health of mind. Ayurveda describes three guna of mind and named as Satwa (Balance), Raja (Arrogance) and Tama (Indolence). Due to imbalance of the “Tamas” or “Rajas” in the mind which are the reactive tendencies which vitiate the mind and leading to emotional imbalance also results in Psychological disturbance.
