A REVIEW ON ROLE OF TRIDOSHA AND PANCHA MAHABHUTA IN FOETAL DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is one of the ancient systems of medicine that has survived from the ages till date. One of the main fundamental theories of Ayurveda involves a method of understanding health and illness. Tridosa is an Ayurvedic concept which consists of three fundamental biological energies, namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These dosas are responsible for homeostasis and health of living beings. Every dravya (substance) in this universe has its panchamahabhuta(five elements) composition. Tridoshas are responsible for the formation of garbha prakruti but the dosha which is predominant at the time of garbha formation that type of prakruti is going to form. The prakruti of a
person is determined by the predominance of dosha at the time of union of shukra and shonita. The combination of shukra and shonita along with the atma, panchamahabhuta(five elements) and vikars in the kukshi (uterus) is known as Garbha. Then the garbha develops by the role of pancha mahabhuta(five elements). Stree beeja and pumbeeja are made up of panchamahabhuta (five elements). These fused together forming a zygote which is also made up of panchamahabhuta (five elements). The zygote grows by getting nutrition from the mother which is also formed by panchamahabhuta (five elements). The foetus is also made up of panchamahabhuta (five elements). After birth that developed baby is also formed by panchamahabhuta (five elements).
