A DETAILED STUDY ON SYNTHESIS OF SOME OF THE VEGETABLE OIL-BASED LUBRICANTS AND THEIR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACT

The use of renewable resources in industrial applications has been growing up interest in the government, commercial and most importantly consumer conscience., however; vegetable oils suffer from poor oxidative and thermal stabilities. Therefore, improving the oxidation stability and thermal stability is important in maintaining their sustainability and performance as lubricants. Chemical modifications at unsaturation like epoxidation, hydroxylation, acylation etc., are some of the methods that can improve their performance of the base stocks.
