ABSTRACT
A wide variety of illnesses can be treated using natural plant-based remedies, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. It is now possible to combine current technology with knowledge and expertise in the use of plants to create a safe and elegant herbal product. As a result, many underdeveloped countries rely on herbal remedies as their primary source of medical care. Several health-promoting cultural practises and natural items are included into ethnomedicine in order to help prevent and treat disease and maintain a person's physical and mental well-being. It is widely utilised in eastern medicine as an anti-tumorgenic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, diuretic, and antipyretic drug. Solanum americanum (black nightshade) plays a significant role. Juice and fruits of the plant are used to cure ulcers and other skin problems, and the fruits are also used to treat asthma and "excessive thirst" as a laxative. Cervical cancer has also been shown to be inhibited by the herb in numerous studies. For three, five, and seven days, administration of a crude ethanol extract of S. americanum at a dose of 250 mg/kg b. wt. increased the protein content of the kidneys and livers significantly. Because it has a wide range of therapeutically active characteristics, extraction is sought after. Ethnopharmacological significance, extraction technique, phytochemistry and pharmacological activity of Solanum americanum will be discussed in this article.
