ABSTRACT
Sheetapitta is defined as “ : : ” . . 3 When there is pitta prakopa it vitiates the vata and kapha dosha. Pitta gets vitiated due to consumption of (ovalbumin-this is a major allergen present in egg). They try to vitiate rakta and mamsa causing mandalotpatti (rash or hives) which has todadhikya. In Madhav Nidan the author has considered sheetapitta and udarda as synonyms. But he has also mentioned the difference between the two. In sheetapitta there is dominance of vata dosha and in udarda dominance of pittadosha; sheetapitta and udarda can be differentiated by the presence and absence of symptoms like toda and kandu. Burning sensation due to pitta dosha is observed in both sheetapitta as well as udarda. The author has incorporated symptoms like daah, toda, aarakta varnata under a
single term-“ ”. According to Ayurvedic Samhita, sheetapitta manifests due to exposure to asatymayaj aahar and vihara and contact with various allergens which act as stimulant. There was formation of maculopapular rash-on face, upper and lower limb including all above symptoms mentioned in a 1.5 year old male patient. The child developed rash with itching and mild fever on consumption of boiled egg, as an allergic reaction. The patient was hence bought to OPD of Kamaxi Arogya Dham. Haridra was used as a single drug therapy to treat the patient. Haridra is used to pacify kapha and pitta dosha and hence it is used against allergic reactions induced by imbalance of doshas. Haridra drug acts as antiallergic, immunostimulant and antioxidant.
