COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ALPHA AMYLASE INHIBITION ACTIVITY OF GREWIA TILIFOLIA VAHL AND CASSIA FISTULA LINN LEAF EXTRACTS

ABSTRACT
Diabetes is one of the leading cause of death and economic burden in developing countries like India, plants always been the good source of drugs one of the important therapeutic approach for the treatment of type-2 Diabetes is to decrease the post prandial increase of glucose by inhibiting carbohydrate metabolising enzymes like alpha amylase the objective of the present study is to evaluate and compare alpha amylase inhibitory activity of Grewia Tilifolial Vahl and Cassia fistula Linn leaf extracts, findings from the studies clearly indicate that both plant extracts shows alpha amylase inhibitory activity in dose dependent manner however Cassia fistula Linn leaf extract shows greater inhibitory activity may be due to the presence of various phytoconstituents.
