ANALYTICAL STUDY OF USHIRAADI ANJANA: AN AYURVEDIC FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
Ushiraadi Anjana is an Ayurvedic topical formulation mentioned in Ayurvedic classic. According to Acharya Vagbhata this anjana is used to eliminate Tridosaja Timira. Present study has been undertaken with the aim to develop the physiochemical profile of the final product. This anjana was prepared by classical method of making Ghana satva, the dried Ghana was then added with pippali churna, saindhav lavana, Go-ghrita (Cow’s Ghee) & when the mixture cooled down, Madhu (Honey) was added at the end. Material & Methods: The prepared drug was evaluated for organoleptic study, physiochemical study, pH value, & the product were subjected for microbial contamination test, it was tested in analytical laboratory & results were documented. Result: The result shows the organoleptic character & sterility. Conclusion: Ushiraadi anjana was prepared by following the method prescribed in Yogratnakar. This paper presents the analytical study of the formulation.
