Dr. A. Sambasivarao* and B. Sowmya
ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study was to develop sustained release formulation of Doxophylline to maintain constant therapeutic level of the drug for 12hours. HPMCK15M, HPMCK100M, CHITOSAN, PVPK30 were employed as polymers. Doxophylline dose was fixed as 400mg total weight of the tablet was considered as 600mg. Polymers were used in the concentration of 40, 80 and 120 mg concentration. All the formulations were passed various physicochemical evaluation parameters and they were found to be within limits whereas from the dissolution studies. it was evident that the formulation(F2) showed better and desired drug release pattern (i.e) 99.57% in 12hours. It contains the natural polymer Doxophylline as HPMCK100M sustained
release material. It followed zero order and first order of Higuchi release kinetics.
Keywords: Doxophylline, HPMCK15M, HPMCK100M, CHITOSAN, PVPK30, Sustained drug release tablets.
