GARAVISHAHARAYOGAS (ANTITOXIC FORMULATIONS) TO DEFEAT CONCOCTED POISON IN AYURVEDA –A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Garavisha is a Samyogaja Visha, Considered as one of the form of Krutrima Visha. (Artificially prepared poison) is explained in Agadatantra (Ayurveda toxicology).which is prepared by the combination of two or more poisonous or non poisonous substances and ultimately affects the whole body by vitiating all the Dhatus (Tissues) in the body it produces diseases. Since it takes some time for to get metabolized and to produce its toxic effects, it does not cause instantaneous death of a person. The concept of Garavisha is the unique contribution of Ayurveda. In the management of Garavisha includes Samshodhana, Samshamana & Nidana Parivarjana. Application of Garavishahara Yogas as a Samshamana Chikitsa after Vamana Chikitsa (Therapeutic emesis) is mentioned in classics. The literary study was carried out on GaravishaharaYogas / Anti toxic Ayurvedic formulations on the basis of Ayurveda literature regarding the various aspects.
