CONCEPT OF VIHARA IN AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda has great contribution in treatment of diseases as well as prevention of diseases; gives equal importance to Ahara and Vihara. This is defined as the most important pillar of the Life. The modern world is currently facing an epidemic of lifestyle related diseases (NCDs) like; Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Diseases etc, as a result of Stress, Improper diet and irregular or sedentary lifestyle. Person becomes unable to enjoy their full of life span. We often talk about Ahara but does not emphasize on Vihara; which is actually responsible for life style disorders. Correct Vihara help us to avoid NCDs and give us healthy life span. Ayurveda believes that in order to achieve and maintain healthy living (Arogya). It is essential to practice a healthy Vihara like Dinacharya (day regimen), Ratricharya (night regimen),
Ritucharya(seasonal regimen) Ahara Vidhi (diet rule), Sadavritta (code of conduct) etc. Ayurveda promotes physical, mental as well as social health and ultimately leads to symptomatic improvement and improvement in the quality of life.
