A REVIEW ON THE PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF CASSIA FISTULA

ABSTRACT
Cassia Fistula is a tropical ornamental tree with bright yellow fragrant flowers. It is commonly known as “Golden Shower Tree” and has been widely used in folk remedies and Ayurvedic medicine for hundreds of years. This plant has laxative action and hence called as purging cassia. Various other ailments like burns, cancer, convulsions, delirium etc were also treated by this herbal drug. The phytochemical studies confirmed the presence of great number of potentially active biomolecules and their multi-functional properties. The drug gained researcher's attention owing to its uses and was screened for its various biological activities. This review article aims to provide brief information on this popular and important herb along with the
pharmacological activities it exhibits.
