ABSTRACT

A program on the standardization of prepared medicines based different medicinal plant extracts was initiated in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRCongo) by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Kinshasa. The studies conducted in the program aimed the establishment of chromatographic fingerprintings of these preparations. In the present study, seven preparations including Diazostimul, Manadiar, Meyamycin and Manalaria tablets, Meyamycin syrup, Manalaria and Manadiar suspensions were investigated. Their thyn layer chromatographic fingerprintings were recorded on which different major compounds were detected in the analysed medicines according the case. These compounds showed different intensities under UV at 366 nm after using appropriate reagents according to the type of preparations. For the same preparation as tablets or suspension, these majors compounds were the same and present different or same intensities of fluorescence under UV at 366nm and analysed medicines presented uniformity and homogeneity in their constitution. They had specific characteristics related to each analyzed medicine. Based on these finding, analyzed ameliorated medicines were declared as standardized.

Keywords: TLC fingerprintings, ameliorated medicines, standardization.
